Urban Planning Writing

Cognitive Mapping

The task was to illustrate through descriptive narrative a journey we have taken in our lives. The path could be one that we've taken once, or one that bears wear from our frequent travels.

Tufts Admissions Personal Statement

When I was applying to the graduate program at Tufts for Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning, I had just earned a BS in Environmental Science and Policy at the University of South Florida. I sought my degree so I could learn the ins and outs of environmental science, as well as learn what policies and laws were in place to mitigate the potential harms done to the environment. What I learned about myself in addition to physical sciences and law was equally as important.
As I was poised to continue my journey about environmental science and planning, I was at a critical time in understanding my role in the environmental movement. This essay marks the conclusion of a grieving process, one where I was grieving the loss of the planet, but understanding my role with the utmost clarity.

No other place I have seen displayed the essence of a perfect place. This narrative describes why this little neighborhood captured the heart of this urban planner.
